IRON ORE EXTRACTION

Iron ore is a mineral from which iron can be extracted in an economically viable way. With a variety of colors, iron can be found in the form of iron oxides such as magnetite, hematite, limonite, goethite or siderite. The extraction of iron ore is present in most countries, its world consumption grows about 11% per year, and the largest consumers are China, Japan, Korea, the United States and the European Union, with Brazil being one of the main suppliers of this raw material. Due to this growing annual increase in consumption, it is essential that there are machines that meet the transport needs of this material in large volumes. Verstegen, a world leader in the manufacture of mechanical grabs operated by rope, develops, designs and manufactures the grab for iron ore, having several equipments in operation in the main Brazilian port terminals.

HIGH CLOSING FORCES – GRAB FOR IRON ORE

These materials can be difficult to penetrate and the iron ore grab requires a high capacity and closing force. The Verstegen iron ore grab is equipped with additional sheaves to ensure good penetration and high closing force. The combination of this high closing force and the excellent design of the shells result in a long service life and high production rates.

BIGGER USEFUL LIFE

As the materials are very hard and abrasive, attention must be paid to the useful life of the critical areas of the grab shells. Designed for heavy duty and made of Hardox 450 steel, the Verstegen iron ore grab enables increased useful life without increasing gross weight.

WEAR AND MAINTENANCE

The handling of abrasive materials will cause wear on the plates that are in contact with the bulk material. Grab wear occurs gradually, but never stops and, therefore, regular maintenance is required.
